	Conventional optical sensors only analyze the quality of light reflected by an object to determine part presence. Size, colour, shape and surface texture are all factors which influence the switching state of the sensor. Errors are also made when there is a reflective item behind the object. Frequently, standard sensors cannot be used, because the actual object is less efficient in reflecting the light than the item in the background. The Background Suppression sensor from Sensopart solves these problems. Distance to the object is the basic parameter for determining the switching state (on or off) of the sensor. Any item beyond the set working range is optically faded out. Size, shape, surface texture and reflection of the object or the background do not affect the sensor.
